Storage bed 140x200

Why choose a 140x200 storage bed for an adult bedroom?

The 140x200 storage bed offers a comfortable length for two adults while retaining a width that is easy to fit into a room. Beneath the sleeping surface, the lift-up mattress base reveals a spacious enclosed storage area. This design combines everyday sleeping and storage in one piece of furniture without disturbing the bedroom’s visual balance.

The extra ten centimeters compared with the 140x190 size give taller people more room and greater freedom of movement. The 140 cm width remains modest, allowing walkways on both sides in many room layouts. The result is a comfortable, orderly sleeping area that is easier to furnish.

What materials and silhouettes are available in the collection?

The current selection brings together several styles of contemporary furniture. Solid wood lends its natural grain and warmth. Oak-look panels offer clean lines, even surfaces, and light tones. Upholstered frames wrap the bed in soft fabric and give the bedroom a more restful feel.

The silhouettes vary too: a minimalist frame without a headboard, an integrated wood panel, an angled backrest, or a padded headboard. This range lets you create a natural, graphic, or textile-rich look without losing the bed’s essential function. Ecru, beige, green, blue, terracotta, white, and oak tones work with a wide variety of interiors.

How much storage space is there beneath the bed?

The storage compartment makes use of the space beneath the mattress base for bed linens, comforters, pillows, folded clothes, and seasonal textiles. Its capacity reduces the need for visible storage containers or space on top of a wardrobe. Some French-made models offer around 840 liters at this size, while others divide the interior into several compartments.

Some designs have a dust-protective bottom or enclosed base to protect what is stored inside. To keep things organized, group items by use and place those you reach for often near the edge. Soft, breathable storage bags are easier to handle than rigid boxes and make better use of the storage compartment’s corners.

How does the lift-up mattress base open?

Gas struts help lift the mattress base and hold it open while you access the storage space. The lifting motion generally starts at the foot of the bed using a discreet handle. The assistance reduces the effort required, but how well it balances depends on the weight of the mattress on the frame.

Recommendations vary by bed: some frames are designed for mattresses weighing 20 to 40 kg, while others have their own limits. Check the relevant product details before choosing. Browse our mattresses and compare their dimensions, height, and weight with the mechanism’s specifications.

Is this size suitable for everyday sleeping?

The collection is designed for everyday use in an adult bedroom. Wooden slatted mattress bases or ventilated upholstered bases support the mattress while encouraging airflow. Several designs include vents or a honeycomb structure to help limit moisture beneath the mattress and maintain a fresh feel.

Stability also depends on panel thickness, the quality of the joints, and solid wood components. Some models list a total weight capacity of up to 250 kg. This figure is not the same for every bed: always check the permitted load, then tighten the hardware according to the instructions to maintain a quiet, level base.

Should you choose solid wood or premium fabric?

A solid pine frame creates a natural atmosphere and highlights the wood itself. It pairs easily with linen, wool, and mineral tones. Our solid wood storage bed category brings together designs in which the bed’s structure becomes a defining part of the decor.

Fabric feels softer to the touch and visually softens the frame’s lines. Textured or finely woven fabrics catch the light subtly and create a cozy feel. Explore our premium fabric beds if you want a more restful bedroom while retaining materials that stand up to everyday use.

With or without a headboard: which configuration should you choose?

An integrated headboard immediately gives the wall structure and the bed a finished look. Padded, it provides comfortable support for reading. Angled, it supports a reclining posture more naturally. In wood, it extends the frame with a continuous material and can highlight the tones of an oak-look finish.

A frame without a headboard offers more freedom in arranging the room. It fits more easily beneath a sloped ceiling, in front of decorative wall paneling, or in a room where the wall is already the focal point. Before choosing, compare the outer height, width, and depth: an angled headboard often increases the overall footprint beyond the mattress dimensions.

Which size should you choose: 140x190, 140x200, or 160x200?

The 140x200 size balances length and a compact footprint. When ten centimeters less depth makes a significant difference to movement around the room, the 140x190 storage bed offers the same width with a shorter footprint. It suits bedrooms where the space at the foot of the bed needs to stay especially clear.

For twenty centimeters more width and greater space for two sleepers, the 160x200 storage bed offers a roomier sleeping surface. It does, however, require a wider room. Mark the bed’s outer dimensions on the floor and allow comfortable walkways before choosing the size that best suits your habits.

What are the signs of a durable design?

PEFC and FSC certifications attest that the wood comes from sustainably managed forests. Depending on the model, they may apply to the panels, solid pine, or interior components. Low-formaldehyde-emission panels, water-based varnishes, and solvent-free paints also help limit unwanted substances in the bedroom.

Durability also depends on a repairable design and materials suited to their purpose. Solid oak legs reinforce support points; a ventilated mattress base helps protect bedding; and appropriately sized gas struts make repeated opening easier. The understated lines also help the bed remain current as the room’s colors and textiles change.

Where are the beds in the selection made?

The collection includes beds made in France and elsewhere in Europe. French workshops work with thick PEFC-certified panels and mechanisms suited to the bed’s dimensions. Other European workshops make solid wood frames, upholstered frames, and oak details, with attention to joints and finishes.

Choosing from our French-made beds supports shorter supply chains and closer oversight of production. European-made beds reflect the same focus on quality and durability. In both cases, product pages specify the origin, certifications, and features of each frame.

How can you protect the finishes day to day?

Clean wood and decorative panels with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges, harsh products, and standing water. For fabric, remove dust regularly with a clean vacuum attachment and treat stains promptly according to the product page’s recommendations.

Do not overload the storage compartment, and keep the hinges clear. No objects should press against the underside of the closed mattress base. Check the fasteners periodically and open the compartment to air it out. Explore the collection and choose the material, headboard, and finish that will give your bedroom lasting elegance.
