Twin loft bed

Why choose a twin loft bed for an adult bedroom?

A twin loft bed makes use of the room’s height to free up floor space beneath the sleeping area. It brings an everyday sleeping space and another function together within the same footprint. A desk, storage, or reading nook can fit without further crowding an adult bedroom.

The collection includes 90x190 and 90x200 sleeping areas, solid pine or beech frames, and certified wood panels. The Nina and Rimini models reflect this variety with clean lines and light finishes. They share the same goal: a stable, uncluttered, and durable piece of furniture.

How much ceiling height do you need?

Measure the bed’s total height, then allow enough space between the mattress and ceiling to sit up comfortably. The clearance needed depends on the user’s height and the mattress thickness. Frames in the collection are generally around 175 to 185 cm tall.

The clearance beneath the bed base determines how you can use the floor space. At around 136 cm, it accommodates low storage or a seated area. More generous clearance makes it easier to fit a desk. Also check the position of light fixtures, windows, and beams before ordering.

Is an elevated sleeping area suitable for an adult’s everyday use?

Yes, provided the weight limit, bed base, and mattress suit the user. Most twin models in this selection support around 100 kg and come with a solid pine slatted base. Assemble the frame on a level floor and check it after the first few nights.

The ladder should be comfortable to use. Wide steps, a stable ladder, and a surrounding guardrail improve safety. Before buying, consider your mobility, nighttime habits, and how often you will climb up and down. Daily use calls for a setup that is genuinely comfortable, not just compact.

90x190 or 90x200: which length should you choose?

The 90x190 size suits most adults and keeps the bed’s overall length down. The 90x200 adds ten centimeters, which can be welcome for taller people. In both cases, the 90 cm width provides a standard twin sleeping area that is easy to outfit.

Measure the entire frame, as the ladder may add to its width and some frames extend beyond the mattress. To compare floor-level beds with the same mattress dimensions, explore the 90x190 bed and 90x200 bed categories.

How can you use the space freed up beneath the bed?

A shallow desk creates an everyday workspace without taking up another part of the bedroom. A low dresser or enclosed shelves keep clothes organized. If clearance is more limited, a low chair, rug, and wall lamp create a quiet reading nook.

Avoid overcrowding the space. Keep the area around the loft bed open and leave a clear path to the ladder. For a coordinated solution, the loft bed with desk category brings the sleeping area and work surface together in one cohesive design.

Which materials make for a stable frame?

Solid pine offers strength and natural warmth. Solid beech is used for some posts because of its density. Eco-friendly wood panels provide stable surfaces and allow for white or wood-look finishes. FSC or PEFC certifications help verify the origin of the wood.

Water-based paints free of solvents and VOCs help limit unwanted emissions in the bedroom. French- or European-made frames generally combine solid wood, a pine slatted base, and reinforced joints. Proper assembly remains essential to getting the full benefit of these materials.

How should you choose the ladder position?

Several models have a reversible ladder that can be installed on the right or left. Consider the door, windows, walkways, and how you plan to use the space beneath the bed. An angled ladder is easier to climb but takes up more floor space than a vertical one.

Mark out the dimensions on the floor and picture how you will move around each day. The ladder should not lead straight into another piece of furniture or block the main walkway. Keep the first steps clear and plan for lighting that you can reach from both the bed and the floor.

What mattress should you use on a twin loft bed?

The mattress must fit the bed base exactly and stay within the specified maximum thickness, often around 15 or 16 cm. This limit is essential: a mattress that is too thick reduces the effective height of the guardrail and compromises sleeping safety.

Choose a comfortable mattress type that is still manageable enough to install up high. Explore the options in our mattresses category. Think about rotation and care, too: a lightweight cover and breathable mattress protector make everyday upkeep easier.

How do you keep the bed safe and maintain it?

Follow the instructions carefully, use all the supplied fasteners, and check that the frame is square before placing the mattress. Regularly check that the screws are tight, the ladder is stable, and the slats are in good condition. Do not hang anything heavy from the guardrails or frame.

Dust the wood with a soft cloth and keep the area beneath the bed clear. Airing the room daily helps protect the mattress. After a move, reassemble the bed methodically rather than transporting the frame fully assembled.

Made in France or elsewhere in Europe: which should you choose?

Both origins can offer durable construction when the materials are certified and the joints are carefully made. Manufacturing in France supports shorter supply chains and local oversight. Production elsewhere in Europe also allows solid wood to be worked to exacting standards.

Above all, compare the weight limit, usable clearance, whether the ladder can be reversed, the type of bed base, and the finishes. These factors affect everyday comfort far more than appearance alone.
