Round coffee table
The round coffee table brings a soft outline to the center of the living room. Wood, mineral-inspired materials, individual tables or sets: our selection lets you compare different looks and sizes. Choose the diameter and height to suit your seating, keeping the surface within reach and room to move comfortably around the tabletop.
A round coffee table to soften the lines
The round coffee table introduces a continuous shape among the sofa, armchairs, and storage furniture. It can balance a living room dominated by straight lines or complement inviting, wraparound seating. Its outline makes it easy to move around the arrangement without four protruding corners. This visual fluidity does not replace measuring the space: the tabletop’s diameter still determines how much floor space it occupies.
Our selection includes individual tables and sets with different materials and bases. We recommend looking at the top and base together. A small top on a wide base can have more visual presence than a larger-diameter table with an open frame. The choice depends on this balance as much as on the stated dimensions.
What diameter works in front of the sofa?
Start with the space available between the seats. The tabletop should be easy to reach without stretching too far, while leaving access to the seating. With a sectional sofa, check the distance from both the chaise and the center seats. A diameter chosen solely to match the sofa’s width may be too large for the depth of the corner.
In our selection, Ardène includes a solid mango wood model with a diameter of 72 cm. This size is an example, not a standard dimension for all round tables. To compare smaller surfaces, explore our small coffee tables. If you have several seats spaced far apart, consider whether one round tabletop serves them all comfortably or whether several pieces would be more practical.
A round table with a sectional sofa
A sectional sofa creates an enclosed seating area where a round table can soften the repeated perpendicular lines. Position it to leave a clear way into the seating group. Moving between the chaise, the sofa, and the room’s exit should feel natural. A slight offset may sometimes work better than centering the table exactly on the sofa.
With a straight sofa and an armchair, a round table can also connect seating that faces different directions. It becomes a shared focal point without imposing a rigid axis. Check its height from each seat, especially if the armchair is much higher or lower than the sofa. How well the arrangement works is measured in use, not just from a front-facing view.
Wood for a warm presence
A solid wood coffee table showcases the material in a simple shape. The wood tones can complement the floor, a shelf, or an armchair with exposed arms. A few objects are enough to keep the tabletop’s shape visible. A round surface crowded with accessories quickly loses the space needed for everyday use.
The finish affects both appearance and care. Do not assume a particular wood species or treatment based on color alone. Check the model’s details before applying oil, wax, or a cleaning product. Knowing exactly what a piece is made of lets you choose it for its appearance without later discovering that it needs different care than you expected.
A stone-inspired top or a pair of surfaces
Our marble and marble-look coffee tables can help create a more mineral-inspired atmosphere. The collection includes different constructions: check whether the top is real stone or a decorative finish. This distinction matters for weight and care. A light surface can balance dark seating, while a veined pattern can become the focal point of an understated living room.
Nesting coffee tables provide several surfaces that you can position according to who is using them. A pair can be brought together in the center or placed near two seating areas if its construction allows. Look at the height difference and how the bases fit together to understand how the tops can be positioned. Also consider where the tables will go when you want to clear the center of the room.
Coordinating the rug and caring for the tabletop
A round table can sit on a round or rectangular rug. The first echoes its curves; the second frames the seating group. Choose the rug with an eye to how much of it will remain visible around the furniture. The tabletop and the objects on it should not obscure the entire pattern if that pattern plays an important role in your decor.
For care, use a method suited to the material and wipe up spills promptly. Coasters or mats under hot or damp objects limit direct contact with the finish. Finally, check assembly and make sure the table is stable on the floor where it will stand. You can then choose a round table whose proportions, material, and shape make the living room as pleasant to look at as it is to use.
