160x200 mattresses
A 160x200 mattress provides welcome width for sharing a bed. Our collection includes different constructions and surface feels, with personalized comfort options on certain models. Choose your support with each person’s preferences in mind.
Why choose a 160x200 mattress?
The 160x200, often called queen size, offers a wider sleeping surface than a 140 cm bed. It can strike a useful balance between room for two and space left in the bedroom. Its 200 cm length adds to the benefit of the extra width.
Be sure to measure the space taken up by the frame, which extends beyond the mattress. Leave enough room to reach the bed, open storage, and change the sheets without moving other furniture.
Choosing between mattress constructions
Our selection brings together foam mattresses, including a memory foam version, combinations of latex and plant fibers, and pocket-spring mattresses. These constructions offer different feels to compare against your personal preferences.
Treat surface feel and support as two complementary characteristics. The outer fabric and comfort layers influence your first impression; the core contributes to support. To explore this comparison further, see our pocket-spring mattresses and latex mattresses.
How can you accommodate two firmness preferences?
You can share a bed without wanting exactly the same comfort. Some models let you choose a different firmness on each side or adjust the arrangement of their inner components. Check what the specific model’s configuration offers.
Motion isolation also matters if you keep different schedules. Consider it alongside the width and bed base you use. A compatible bed base in good condition remains essential for the mattress to perform as intended.
160x200 or 180x200?
A 180x200 mattress adds twenty centimeters of width without changing the length. It may suit you if you want more space, provided the bedroom still has comfortable walkways. Compare how much room each size takes up with your chosen frame.
By contrast, a 140x200 mattress reduces the width while retaining the 200 cm length. This may suit a narrower room. Base your choice on the bedroom and your comfort rather than assuming the largest size is always best.
What height works for your bed and bedding?
Thicknesses vary across the collection. Add the mattress height to the bed base height to assess how high the bed will be for sitting. Check your frame’s requirements, especially for a storage bed whose mechanism must support a suitable load.
Then choose a mattress protector and fitted sheet deep enough to cover that height. The 160x200 size describes the sleeping surface, not the sheet’s pocket depth. This detail is particularly useful if you choose a thick mattress or add a mattress topper.
Planning care for a double mattress
With a large mattress, plan to move it with two people if its weight calls for it. Follow the rotation instructions, and flip it only if the manufacturer recommends doing so. A removable cover also has its own cleaning instructions.
We recommend agreeing on a few shared criteria before comparing models: desired width, surface feel, support, and care. You can then choose a 160x200 mattress that suits the way you sleep and your bed setup.
