A daybed may have a fixed sleeping surface or convert to provide more width. The mattress must work with that configuration. Before comparing materials, identify the type of frame, the required dimensions, and the positions in which it will be used.

Fixed or folding mattress: which should you choose?

A fixed mattress can suit a daybed whose bed base stays the same size. Choose it as you would a twin mattress, paying particular attention to thickness, since this also changes the seat height.
