Square or rectangular: match the shape of your pillow

The pillowcase should fit your pillow. Measure its width and length, then choose the matching size from the available options. A square shape is not automatically interchangeable with a rectangular one, even if their dimensions seem similar.

The pillow should be able to retain its loft without being compressed. A pillowcase that is too tight changes how it feels; one that is too loose may bunch up. Check the fit with a protector underneath if you use one.

How do the collections feel different?

Solid-color organic cotton is easy to coordinate and creates a simple look. Striped percale adds a regular pattern and a crisper feel. Washed cotton sateen suits those who prefer a smoother, more supple surface.

Here, sateen refers to a type of cotton weave. It should not be confused with a synthetic fiber. Check the composition on the product page and choose according to how you prefer the fabric to feel against your skin.

Pairing pillowcases with a duvet cover

You can match the colors of your duvet cover or introduce a similar shade. With striped bedding, solid-color pillowcases can create a calmer look. Conversely, a few stripes add texture to an otherwise solid-color bed.

To keep your bedroom visually restful, limit contrasts to those you truly enjoy. A color already found in the curtains or an accessory can tie the bed to the rest of the room.

Pillowcase or pillow protector: what’s the difference?

The pillowcase is the visible fabric cover. A pillow protector goes underneath and serves a protective purpose, particularly when it has a waterproof layer. These two products can work together without having the same composition or washing instructions.

Choose both in the right size. Once they are in place, check that the pillow regains its loft and that the corners sit properly, leaving an even surface.

Keeping extra pillowcases lets you change them without changing the rest of your bedding. Follow the care label and let them dry completely before storing them. The appropriate wash temperature depends on the specific product, not just on the fact that it is cotton.
