To ensure our rugs are long-lasting and ethically made, we select workshops certified to three leading international standards (ISO). These are more than labels: they are rigorous control systems audited every year.
ISO 9001: Consistently high-quality finishing
This standard requires rigorous checks at every stage of production, from sourcing the wool or cotton to the final weaving. In practical terms, it ensures that your rug is free of structural defects and closely matches the stated dimensions and colors. It is your assurance of a reliable finished product designed to last without deteriorating prematurely.
ISO 14001: Resource-conscious production
Making a rug, particularly washing the fibers, requires careful management of water and energy. ISO 14001 certification requires the workshop to actively reduce its environmental footprint through wastewater treatment, recycling material offcuts and reducing CO2 emissions. For you, that means the assurance of a healthy home, with a rug made through environmentally responsible production.
ISO 18001 / 45001: Certified ethical working practices
A beautiful rug should not come at the expense of the people who make it. This standard safeguards artisans’ working conditions, including health protection, workshop safety and respect for human rights. Choosing a certified rug means choosing responsible craftsmanship that gives workers’ safety the same priority as product quality.
- Machine wash separately in a machine with a capacity of 8 kg or more, using a delicate cycle at 30°C and no bleach.
- Use a mild detergent and do not use fabric softener.
- Select a low spin speed if the rug has braids, fringe or tassels.
- Do not leave the rug damp in the machine, as the colors may bleed or stain.
- Tumble dry on low heat.
- Avoid drying in the sun.
- Don’t worry if you notice some lint: these are residual fibers from cutting the cotton.
- For the first few days, we recommend brushing the rug with a stiff brush in the direction of the pile, then vacuuming it.
- We do not recommend using robot vacuums.
- If you find long or loose threads, trim them with scissors. Never pull on a thread.
