Square coffee table
A square coffee table creates a clear focal point in your living room. Our selection includes models with storage and sets of two tables in different material combinations. Choose the tabletop size, height, and function to create a living room that reflects your style.

A square coffee table to bring the seating together
A square coffee table offers a balanced surface in both directions. It can complement a sectional sofa, two seats facing each other, or a group arranged around a central point. Its shape gives the arrangement a sense of stability. Your choice still depends on the size of the tabletop: a square takes up as much depth as width and needs sufficient space in front of the sofa.
Our selection offers several versions of this shape, including a table with a drawer and pairs combining wood and marble. We recommend starting with where the seats are placed, then deciding how much tabletop space you need. Materials and finishes can then define the atmosphere without overshadowing how easy it is to sit around the table.
What size should you choose?
Measure the space between the seats and the walkway that needs to remain clear. The table should be close enough to set something down, but far enough away for people to get up comfortably. With seats facing each other, check the distance on both sides rather than positioning the table solely in relation to the main sofa. A visually balanced layout does not always give every seat the same practical access.
Square tables come in different sizes. The Tivoli table, for example, has an 81 × 81 cm top. This measurement does not apply to the entire category. In a narrower room, a rectangular coffee table may make better use of the available space by taking up less depth. Comparing the two shapes on the floor helps you choose based on more than appearance alone.
A drawer to keep the tabletop clear
Built-in storage keeps remotes, notebooks, and small accessories close at hand. With a square table, check which side the drawer opens on: it should face a clear area that is accessible from the seating. The table’s exterior width does not tell you how much space is inside. The usable storage dimensions matter if you want to put specific items in it.
The coffee tables with storage category lets you compare other ways to organize your space. A closed drawer and an open cubby suit different habits. Choose based on what you prefer to conceal or keep in view. Once you have decided on storage, leave part of the tabletop clear for everyday use so the table remains a shared surface.
A pair of square tables for a flexible arrangement
Nesting coffee tables provide several surfaces that can be brought together or spread apart. In a square set, differences in size and height add visual rhythm to the center of the living room. You can dedicate one table to decorative objects and keep the other freer for use, or place them near different seats if their design allows.
Check how the bases fit together and how much space the pair occupies when grouped. Two tabletops do not necessarily nest completely beneath one another. If you need to clear the living room regularly, consider the weight of each piece as well. This flexibility is most useful when the tables are easy to move and you have a suitable place for each one.
Wood, decorative panels, or a combination with marble
A wood or wood-look top creates a warm connection with the seating. Solid wood coffee tables have their own natural grain, while decorative panels offer a different construction. In this selection, some tables also combine an acacia base with a genuine marble top. It is important to distinguish between the surfaces to understand the table’s construction and care needs.
The square shape emphasizes the table’s lines. A strongly veined material may be enough to give the room character; simple accessories let it remain visible. With a textured sofa, a light shade creates a gentle contrast. If the living room already has several patterns, choose a more understated rug to avoid too many competing focal points around the tabletop.
Balance height and shape
Compare the table’s height with the height of the seats. A very low tabletop may look appealing, but reaching objects from a high seat requires more movement. Also consider the tabletop’s thickness and the design of the base. A substantial base makes a square table look heavier, even when its overall dimensions are modest.
If you prefer a softer outline, compare round coffee tables. They create a different flow around the center of the living room. Whichever model you choose, follow the care instructions for each material and use suitable protection under hot or damp objects. This will help you choose a square table that brings the seating together while remaining practical every day.
