Coffee Table with Storage
A coffee table with storage helps keep the tabletop clear for use and everyday items easy to find. Drawer, open compartment, or space beneath a lift-up top: the options vary by model. Choose a layout that suits your living room accessories, then check the dimensions and the clearance needed to access them.

What can you store in a coffee table?
A coffee table with storage meets a simple need: keeping frequently used items near the sofa without leaving everything on the tabletop. Remote controls, notebooks, magazines, and small accessories can each have a dedicated place. Before choosing a table, take stock of these items. Their size and how often you use them will help you decide what type of storage you need.
Our selection includes tables with drawers and models with lift-up tops, as well as other storage layouts depending on the model. Check the storage features listed on each product page. The shape of a table or a photo showing it closed may not reveal how much space is available inside. A practical table has compartments you can still access once it is in place.
A drawer to keep accessories out of sight
A drawer works well for small items you want to find quickly while keeping the front of the table uncluttered. Check its interior width, depth, and which side it opens from. If you use the table from several seats, consider where you will open the drawer most often. A drawer facing another piece of furniture that is too close may be less useful.
The selection includes the Tivoli table, which pairs a square shape with a drawer. To explore this layout, compare our square coffee tables. If you have a long sofa, a rectangular version may distribute the surface area more effectively. Storage should complement a well-proportioned table without taking up the space needed to move around.
An open compartment for items you want to keep in view
An open compartment gives you direct access to books and accessories. It does not need clearance for a door or drawer to open, but its contents remain visible and exposed to dust. Choose one if you like a simple arrangement and want the stored items to contribute to the room’s atmosphere. The usable dimensions should let you reach items without removing everything else.
A suitably sized basket can help keep small items together, provided it fits the compartment and does not obstruct ventilation or the furniture’s operation. The choice between an open compartment and a drawer therefore depends on your habits. We recommend prioritizing storage that is easy to use over a larger space you cannot reach comfortably.
What is a lift-up top for?
On models equipped with one, a lift-up top brings the surface closer for certain activities and may provide access to storage inside. The Céleste table is one example in the selection. Look at how the top moves, its position when open, and the weight guidelines. A movable top is not automatically suitable for use as a permanent desk or a conventional dining table.
Allow room in front of the sofa to operate the mechanism. Depending on the model’s instructions, you may need to remove or move items on the top. If a large, uninterrupted surface is your priority, rectangular coffee tables let you compare fixed versions with those that have additional features. A lift-up top makes sense when it supports something you regularly do in your living room.
Consider the materials and how the compartments open
Wood coffee tables come in different constructions, from solid wood to panels with decorative finishes. A light finish can make a storage table appear less bulky, while a darker tone emphasizes its volume. Look at the thickness of the top and whether the table has closed fronts: two pieces with similar dimensions can look very different in front of a sofa.
A drawer or open compartment does not indicate a particular material construction. Check the materials used for the structure and the finish. To create a cohesive look, you can match the table’s color to a TV stand with storage while choosing different silhouettes. This lets you organize items in several places without making every piece of furniture look exactly alike.
Keep the tabletop clear for everyday use
The point of storage is to free up the surface you use every day. Set aside a place for items that stay on the table, then leave room to put down a cup or open a book. If the top remains completely covered despite the compartments, it may be worth reconsidering what you keep near the sofa. The table does not need to replace all the storage in your living room.
If walkways are narrow, compare its footprint with that of a small coffee table. Check how the compartments open once the table is in place, and follow the finish’s care instructions. You can then choose a table whose storage makes organizing easier, with a welcoming surface and easy access from your seats.
