Storage bed 160x200

Why choose a 160x200 storage bed for an adult bedroom?

The 160x200 storage bed combines the comfortable width of a queen-size bed with generous built-in storage. It gives two adults room to sleep comfortably every night while keeping the bedroom organized. The space beneath the bed base can replace several storage boxes or part of a wardrobe.

This size gives the bed a generous presence in the bedroom, while the built-in storage keeps the space looking orderly. The collections come in wood-look finishes, solid pine, certified wood panels, or textured and quilted fabrics. Clean lines showcase the materials without making the room feel crowded.

How much storage space can you expect?

Depending on its height and design, the storage compartment can hold close to 868 liters, reaching approximately one cubic meter in some upholstered frames. There is room for comforters, blankets, pillows, bedding, and seasonal clothing. Compartmentalized models make sorting easier, while one large open space suits particularly bulky items.

A base panel protects textiles from dust on the floor. To keep everything easy to see, use soft, breathable storage bags and avoid packing them too tightly. Distribute the weight across the entire surface and keep the hinges clear so the bed base continues to move smoothly.

How does the lift-up bed base work day to day?

Gas struts assist with lifting and offset some of the weight of the bed base and mattress. Their force is calibrated for the 160x200 size. Some systems also have a safety lock to prevent the bed base from closing accidentally while the storage compartment is open.

Lift the bed base gradually and from the center. Use the handle provided, wait until the base is stable, and never place anything near the gas struts. Mattress weight matters: always follow the range or limits stated on the product page.

Does a 160x200 bed really make sleeping together more comfortable?

At 80 cm of width per person, a 160x200 bed gives each sleeper more space than a 140 cm bed. Each person can change position more freely, helping make nightly sleep more peaceful. The 200 cm length also suits taller people.

A slatted or upholstered bed base should support the mattress while allowing air to circulate. Some designs use breathable fabric or dedicated openings for ventilation. Explore different options in our mattress category, checking that the dimensions and weight are compatible with the storage bed.

Which materials should you choose for a durable storage bed?

FSC-certified solid pine offers strength and natural warmth. Eco-friendly wood panels provide stable frames and precise oak-look finishes, with low formaldehyde levels. Fabric upholstery feels softer and creates an inviting silhouette, especially appealing in a spacious adult bedroom.

The Timo and Jade models show two different approaches: solid wood finished with water-based paint and textured fabric paired with a certified frame. In both cases, the quality of the joints, bed base, and mechanism takes priority over appearance alone.

Should you choose a wood or upholstered headboard?

A wood headboard highlights the bed’s natural lines and is easy to clean. An upholstered version offers softer support and creates a cozy atmosphere. Some collections include a headboard; others offer it as an option, giving you more freedom to personalize the bedroom.

Before choosing, measure the available height and the bed’s overall depth. The headboard should not cover an outlet or interfere with a wall light. For a warm, timeless look, explore wood headboards compatible with your bed’s width.

160x200 or 140x190: which size suits your room?

The 160x200 size prioritizes room to stretch out and suits bedrooms with sufficient width. A 140x190 storage bed leaves more room to move around and has a smaller footprint. Consider both your desired comfort and access to doors, windows, and storage.

Measure the entire frame, which is slightly larger than the mattress. If possible, leave room to walk on both sides and at the foot of the bed. Also check that you can maneuver the packages around corners on the way to the bedroom; some models come in several sections to make narrow access easier.

Wood or fabric: how do you create a cohesive look?

Light wood pairs well with natural-toned walls, linen textiles, and mineral shades. Textured or quilted fabric adds depth and allows for richer colors, from terracotta to light gray. A bedroom rug placed partly under the bed can help define the space and make mornings feel softer underfoot.

Avoid using too many prominent materials. Two or three well-chosen textures are enough: wood, fabric, and natural fibers, for example. Built-in storage helps maintain this calm look by concealing items that might otherwise make the room feel cluttered.

How do you care for the frame and keep the lift mechanism working smoothly?

Dust the storage compartment, bed base, and hinges several times a year. Air out the mattress, and leave the compartment open for a few minutes before putting away recently used bedding. Clean wood with a slightly damp cloth and fabric according to its specific care instructions.

Check that the joints are tight after the first few weeks, then periodically. Distributing stored items evenly and using a mattress of a suitable weight help reduce strain. These simple steps maintain the bed’s stability and keep the lift mechanism operating smoothly over time.
