3-seat sofa

A 3-seat sofa for sharing the living room

The 3-seat sofa provides shared seating that often becomes the centerpiece of a living room. It welcomes conversations, reading, and evenings together. How well it works depends on the space actually available between the armrests, as well as the depth and support. A generously sized seat can invite you to relax in different positions; a more upright posture suits other habits.

Our collection brings together stationary and sleeper sofas in a range of fabrics and colors. Dimensions vary considerably by model: the term “3-seat” does not define a single size. We recommend considering the overall width, depth, and shape of the backrest together. These proportions will determine how well the sofa fits in your room.

Decide where the sofa will go before choosing a model

In an enclosed living room, the main wall is often the simplest place for a sofa. Still, check the location of outlets, the swing of doors, and the space needed for curtains. In an open-plan room, the sofa can divide two areas. Its back will then be visible from the dining room, and there should be enough space to walk comfortably behind it. Sometimes, one well-placed piece is enough to organize the whole room.

Mark the furniture’s footprint on the floor to see how much space remains for other pieces. A large coffee table can complement a long sofa, but it should not block access to the seats at either end. Also consider the space in front of the TV stand and whether you can walk through the living room without always going around the table. Dimensions make the most sense when viewed as part of the overall layout.

What seat depth should you choose for relaxing?

Seat depth directly affects posture. If you like to sit with your legs tucked up, a deep sofa may suit your habits. If you prefer to sit upright and talk, back support and the ability to rest your feet on the floor matter more. The Bali model offers a particularly generous seat, with a stated seat depth of 85 cm. Whether that suits you depends on how you like to use your sofa.

Seat height also affects everyday comfort. A low seat feels different to use than a higher one. Next, look at the armrests: their width can provide comfortable support, but it also takes up some of the sofa’s overall width. For three people, the usable seating space is therefore a more practical point of comparison than the sofa’s length alone.

Stationary or sleeper: choose a function that will serve you over time

A non-convertible sofa can be designed entirely around seating and relaxation. Our selection includes straight silhouettes in smooth fabric and corduroy. A straight sofa gives you the freedom to add a separate armchair and rearrange the surfaces around it. This flexibility can be useful if you regularly change your living room layout.

If the sofa is also your everyday bed, look at sleeper sofas and their specific features. Mattress width does not necessarily correspond to the number of seats. Check the sleeping dimensions, support, mechanism, and space needed to open it. An attractive sofa should remain practical when it becomes a bed, with enough room to make the bed and move around.

Choose upholstery that complements your furniture

Smooth fabric gives the sofa a continuous look and lets you play with textured cushions. Corduroy creates a more visible rhythm, while bouclé adds an inviting texture. On a large sofa, the upholstery covers a substantial area. Before choosing a color, look at your existing rug and curtains to avoid a buildup of patterns that could make the room feel too busy.

A limited color palette does not mean your decor has to be uniform. You can pair a colorful sofa with wood, a few black accents, and a more neutral rug. A colorful living room rug can also be a starting point if the sofa is a subdued shade. Either way, a few repeated details can create a cohesive look without buying every piece from the same collection.

Understanding upholstery details

Depending on the model, product pages describe the foam, frame, and suspension. These elements affect how the seat responds when one or several people sit on it. Density alone does not describe how firm a seat feels; cushion shape and padding layers also play a part. Compare the available information with the posture you prefer, rather than judging a sofa by a single number.

Construction and country of manufacture vary by model. Some pieces in the selection are made in Italy, while other sofas in the catalog have a different origin. We prefer to provide these details on each product page. That way, you can make a choice based on specific information and better understand what you are buying beyond the collection’s overall style.

Plan for delivery and everyday care

A 3-seat sofa may require extra attention to access. Measure doorways, stairs, and turns, then check the package dimensions. Find out whether any parts can be removed for transport or whether the sofa arrives in multiple sections. You cannot determine whether a package will fit through an opening from the width of the assembled sofa. Planning ahead helps you place it where intended.

To care for the fabric, follow its cleaning instructions and regularly remove dust with a suitable attachment. If space is limited, also compare loveseats: some offer a generous usable seat width. Choose the model that fits how you actually use it, with enough space around it to keep the living room comfortable day to day.
